Lisa Beall has been involved in program evaluation and assessment since joining the Academic Engagement and Transition Program in 2010. She is responsible for planning and implementing assessment of learning outcomes for students participating in first year experience programs such as Introduction to the University (UNIV101 and UNIV301). She also participates in evaluating and redefining first year program goals and outcomes, developing new curricula, and providing instructor training.

Lisa earned a Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology from UMBC in 2011. Her research centered on educational aspects of development, including metacognition, learning strategies, and reading attitudes and behavior. Her dissertation tested relations between the formation of specific behavioral intentions and elementary-aged students’ subsequent reading behavior. She has presented at the American Educational Research Association and Society for the Scientific Study of Reading annual conferences.
