Barbara Smith joined UMBC in 1999 on a temporary assignment and was hired as an Administrative Assistant with Hilltop Institute formerly Center for Health Program Development and Management (CHPDM). She worked in the Provost Office while in interim roles for Institutional Research and the Learning Resources Center, and served on the Shared Services planning committee. Barbara is currently the Program Management Specialist for AETP, supporting first and second year and transfer student programs and departmental budget management.
She has completed with highest honors, the Stratford Career Institute’s Business Management Program and several professional development webinars and seminars including the Personal Leadership and Project Management Cohort-III 2018-2019. Barbara serves as treasurer for the Non-Exempt Staff Senate, and represents NESS on the Inclusion Council. Barbara received the 2015-2016 Karen L. Wench Endowment Award for Outstanding Non-Exempt Staff.
