Where did you go to high school?
Stephen Decatur High School

When and why did you decide you wanted to attend UMBC?
I decided I wanted to go to UMBC when I was a senior in high school because it was the right size school for me, had a wide variety of majors (I was undecided coming in), and had a diverse campus environment.

How did you hear about the (IN)DS LLC?
I met two former discovery scholars through tours and was able to hear their experiences and decided I wanted to join the floor.

Why did you decide to participate in the (IN)DS LLC?
I decided to participate because the of the two people I met and because it was a good fit for me being that I had no idea what I wanted to major in. I also heard that people on the floor were much more involved than other.

Did you know anyone else in LLC when you started? Have you made friends through the program?
I did not know anyone coming into the program, but I was able to make lots of acquaintances and a few really good friends.

What was the most interesting thing that happened during your first year at UMBC?
The most interesting thing that happened was the carnival that was held on Erickson field because I was able to spend time with friends, ride all of the rides, and eat good food.

What was your favorite aspect of participating in the LLC?
My favorite aspect was probably that I was able to interact further with people on my floor than most UMBC students are able to because we had class and events together.

In what ways did the LLC experiences help you at UMBC?
The LLC experiences helped me to have many different people I could come to with questions and to have people who were actually concerned with my academic success and direction.

Would you recommend LLC to other new UMBC students?
I would recommend LLC to other new UMBC students because it is a really good way to transition from high school to college and to make new friends and become involved in the university.
