UMBC loves our transfer students! Did you know there is a whole team of UMBC staff members who are continuously working to support transfers and improve their college experience? We are here to support your transfer journey from the moment you set foot on campus to graduation and beyond!

three seated students look at a laptopTransfer Teaching Assistants (TAs) are current transfer students who co-teach a Transfer Student Seminar with a faculty or staff co-instructor. Transfer TAs are knowledgeable about UMBC and passionate about helping new transfer students get connected to the campus community and their majors.

Student discussionThe Academic Peer Advocate (APA) Program pairs first-time, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students in their first and second year, with trained and compassionate peers dedicated to providing individualized support during their transition to college. Transfer Academic Peer Advocates are trained specifically to work with transfer students. APA’s mission is to empower their peers to take advantage of the appropriate campus resources and to confidently seek help when needed.
