Join a Student Organization
Whether you choose to get involved in a club sport or a sorority/fraternity, you are bound to implement and gain leadership skills, while also becoming part of a supportive family! Serving on an organization's executive board will allow you to enact skills you will need in the workforce and help you initiate positive changes on campus or in the community. Find a Job on Campus
On-campus jobs can put some extra money in your pocket, and extra skills on your resume. Student positions promote leadership, teamwork, and responsibility too! Log in to UMBC's job search platform, Handshake, to find open positions in various offices and academic departments around campus.
Support the UMBC Student Community!
- Join forces with the Student Government Association (SGA): Assuming a leadership role in the SGA will give you the opportunity to implement the change you want to see at UMBC!
- Get involved with the Resident Student Association (RSA): Campus residents can engage with residential life staff to make the most out of the on-campus living experience. Email umbcrsaexec@umbc.edu to find out ways to get involved.
- Become a Welcome Week Leader (Woolie): Woolies serve as a resource to all incoming students during Welcome Week, supporting students in their transition to campus and helping them connect to events and upcoming opportunities.
- Join The A-Team: This consists of various student leadership opportunities around supporting new UMBC Students. You can learn more about the following positions here and apply for the 2024-2025 cycle.
- Check out the Grit Guides team: Join the Grit Guides team in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions works to work with prospective students and share your passion for UMBC! Email Gina Ralston (gralston@umbc.edu) for more information.
- Join The Global Ambassador Program: UMBC's Global Ambassador Program brings together a diverse group of current international students who help create a welcoming and considerate community for UMBC's international students.
- Get involved with our Transfer Team: Our team of Teaching Assistants, Transfer Student Network Leaders, and Transfer Peer Advocates are here to support our transfer students' college experience! Join the team for the chance to work closely with Transfer Support staff and support transfer student success at UMBC!
