Mission

Dawg Days: Jumpstart Summer Bridge is a summer program at UMBC that strives to provide new first year students a chance to understand college academics, explore campus resources, engage in self-discovery, and connect to the UMBC and surrounding community. Through this program, students will interact with other incoming first years as well as campus faculty/staff.

Summer Activities

Are you a current UMBC student looking to take a summer class?

Academic Coursework

  • Students take a UMBC Math, English, and/or a General Education Course.
  • Classes occur in the morning Monday – Thursday, typically 9am – 12pm for 2-3 days per week.
  • Mandatory weekly workshops to get connected to UMBC resources and offices.

Support Services

  • Tutoring sessions will be offered to assist students work on papers, study, homework, and preparing for exams.
  • Drop-in Office Hours will be available with the Dawg Days: Summer Bridge Staff.
  • Weekly social events to build connections with fellow classmates and the UMBC community.
  • Other activities in and around Baltimore to learn more about the greater UMBC community.

Fall Activities

Freshman Introduction to the University (UNIV101)

  • All students participate in an UNIV101 – Introduction to the University Seminar (2-credits) during the fall semester to introduce them to campus resources and college success strategies
  • Students will also meet semesterly with the Dawg Days: Jumpstart Summer Bridge Program Coordinator for continued advising and connection
  • Optional and ongoing reunion events to stay connected to your Summer Bridge Cohort
